In 1979, fresh from directing bare knuckle boxing movie Hard Times and supercool crime thriller The Driver, Walter Hill delivered his third stone cold classic in a row: The Warriors, a slam-bang, visually kinetic action movie that mixed a heightened comic-book sensibility with a timeless tale from ancient Greece and set them loose in the streets of modern America.
In New York the gangs outnumber the cops by 5-1. Together, they could rule the city. Gang-leader Cyrus has a dream to do just that and calls a summit. The gangs of New York gather in their thousands, Cyrus takes the stage. From somewhere in the crowd a shot rings out and Cyrus falls down dead. In the chaos that follows, a small gang from Coney Island - the Warriors - are blamed. Now everyone is out to get them. On foot, in enemy territory, can they make it through the night to get back across the city to the safety of home turf?

I can dig it!
For my first time ever watching the 1979 classic, The Warriors didn’t disappoint in the least. Stellar action set pieces and some exhilarating chases to boot - with just the right amount of 70’s cheese. Box set was absolutely worth it - and I’ll certainly be finding plenty of uses for these stickers.

Warriors! Come Out To Play!
I'm so happy to have this late 70s classic on blu-ray after waiting years since the only way you could watch it on blu-ray was the horrible 2005 director's cut that adds in these comic book scene's which wrecks the film, I don't know Walter Hill would ruin one of his best films with that horrible 2005 cut of it. But, thanks to Arrow as they finally restore the original theater version on blu-ray as seeing the late 70s New York in all its filth, grit, graffiti, urban landscape at night in HD was amazing! The acting was great, lots of action with gang brawls and fights. I also find the film way better than the novel it's loosely based on too. If you're a fan of late 70s films and enjoying seeing New York City in the past, then check out The Warriors. It's a classic that everyone should see. Thanks again, Arrow for restoring this favorite of mine. Now I can enjoy this master piece how it was meant to be seen.

Warriors! Come Out To Play!
At long last, I have been waiting years for this late 70s classic to get the blu-ray release it desired. I'm a fan of Walter Hill films, but why take one of your best films and do a horrible version of it by adding comic book scenes and not release the theater cut on blu-ray? Well, Arrow has fixed that annoying problem by giving the fans of, The Warriors what they finally wanted and can enjoy this master piece without anything to alter the film. Seeing late 70s New York in all it's filth, grit, graffiti, urban landscape at night in HD was amazing! The acting was great, the gang brawls and fight scenes were awesome! Very well shot and stylish too as this is must seen film of people who like older films and also like seeing New York City in the past. I also find the film a lot better than the novel it's loosely based on too. Thanks again, Arrow for releasing one of my favorite films on blu-ray as now I can watch this master piece the way it was meant to be watched.
