Ah, Empire Pictures. And Charles Band himself, who gave us both the Trancers and Puppet Master series of movies, in addition to about a gazillion other low-budget howlers spanning nearly every genre from horror and scifi to family and kids films. Both names synonymous with low-budget, straight-to-video flicks. If you grew up in the 80s and early 90s, you most likely saw every one of these titles sitting on a video store shelf...and probably rented them. One thing Band did was assemble the best people he could under the limited budgets he worked with and put everything including the kitchen sink into every production. This modest collection includes some of his more infamous offerings. Horror, scifi, and, "Honey, what the hell is this?!" This is a nice set for connoisseurs of 80s and early 90s low-budget schlock. For GenX-ers who lived through those times, the set will be a blast from the past. For newcomers, it's an excellent introduction to the wonders of the golden age of the Video Rental Store when it was THE Friday night/weekend destination.
