Can't to churn my way through this lovingly put-together boxset of the crazy end of Shaw Bros. studios. The quality, care, and research put into these boxsets is unmatched, perhaps all the more impressive given how rapid-fire the output of the studio is. And after a lot of kung-fu and historical swordplay films, it's great to see the fantasy and witchcraft side of the enterprise being given its full due (and then some). And just maybe one of these will turn out to be the near-mythical memory I have of watching Run-Run-Shaw movies at the back of a Vancouver Chinatown restaurant as a kid so long ago. Poisoned tea bringing blood out the ears, death by icicle, and wicked spells from bearded wizards.... sure hope so!

I've been waiting to pull the trigger on a set like this. Don't get me wrong, the straight up kung fu movies are awesome, but this selection is on another level! Love the wacky magic and crazy direction of these. The cheese is there in full force, but the special effects are good and the action is good too. It's like a whole treasure trove of top tier B-movies waiting to be restored from the other side of the world.
